Unfortunately for them, some people think that all rural camping is akin to "roughing it".Some of the prettiest and best maintained campgrounds I've ever seen were in Corps of Engineers parks.

"The Corps of Engineers is the Nation's largest provider of outdoor recreation, operating more than 2,500 recreation areas at 463 projects (mostly lakes) and leasing an additional 1,800 sites to State or local park and recreation authorities or private interests. The Corps hosts about 360 million visits a year at its lakes, beaches and other areas, and estimates that 25 million Americans (one in ten) visit a Corps project at least once a year."

Winhall Brook Camping Area is nestled in the Green Mountains of Vermont along the Winhall Brook and the West River. The campground has a strong appeal to the outdoorsmen at heart. Winhall Brook offers 111 campsites, of which 14 have camping shelters (three sided Adirondack shelters), and 23 have electric and water hookups. Other amenities include a dump station, firewood, hot showers, playgrounds, and hiking/biking trails. The camping area is open from mid-May through mid-October. Nothing's more enjoyable than camping during the summer.

I highly recommend the one at Sardis Lake, Batesville, MS. Stayed there for two weeks waiting for the SS gravy train to come in. There are two CGs there, cost $2-3, half with a federal discount card. Read more at my non-commercial Web page. http://rogerwoods.bravehost.com/bates.html
